Our Song

You are my sunshine

My only sunshine

You make me happy

When skies are grey

You’ll never know dear

How much I love you

Please don’t take my sunshine away

America's birthday

We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend this year. We went to two different firework shows and had a cookout at our house. The fourth of July holiday is one of my fondest memories as a child. I love getting together with family and friends and I LOVE watching fireworks. I think the girls had a lot of fun this weekend as well. I was anxious to see how Layton would do with fireworks, especially the big ones. She doesn't really like loud noises but she did fine. She sat in my lap during one of the big shows. I would say "wow" after each one and she would repeat me. One time she changed up on me and said "cool". It was too funny!

She used to pose for me, now this is what I get!

Dave sees the furture in this picture and he looks sick!

I don't think Dave intended on Layton having her own sparkler. However, when Layton saw him lighting Lydia one, she ran up to him and said "where's mine".

Sweet friends!

Thank You Jesus for WASHABLE markers!

Yesterday afternoon while cooking dinner, Layton was very quiet. I looked in the living room and seen her standing still on the other side of the couch. I then thought she was just “doing her business”. About 5 minutes later Lydia came through and screamed. Layton had a brown marker and she had drawn all over Julie, Lydia’s American Doll girl. Lydia was getting really upset. After walking over to where Layton had been standing, I seen marker all over the fireplace, floors, her arms & legs, a basket that was sitting there and of course Julie. Lydia was panicked that Julie would not come clean. So we washed her off first. Since the markers were washable, we were able to wipe all marks off Julie. Her clothes on the other hand will have to be washed! I made Layton wipe the floors and fireplace off. All I could think of the whole time was Thank You Jesus for WASHABLE markers! I asked Layton who had written all over everything and she admitted that “Ay-Lay” (Lay Lay, herself) had made the mess. I was curious to see who she would say. Regretfully I didn’t get any pictures. It all happened so fast, when it was all over, I thought I wished I would have taken a picture! I am sure it will happen again one day! I just hope this time Julie is hidden!!!

Miss Serious

Sometimes she is the most serious child I have ever seen!!!
