I think they do look alike...

Lydia at 3 months.

Layton at 4 months.

I love their wrinkled foreheads!! I agree with Dave, we might not do much right but we make pretty babies!!

Christmas Play

Sunday night was our childrens Christmas play at church. For the past several years Lydia and I have been in it. This year all four of us had a role. Dave and I represented Layton's parents and Lydia had a part with the children her age. Dave was soooo stressed out. Who knew that he does not like performing in front of others? He did fine, but afterwards said he did not ever want to do that again! Lydia's part involved 2 songs that her and another little girl were suppose to sing, well the other little girl ended up being sick so Lydia had to do it solo. I didn't think she would do much because in years past she hasn't done anything but stand there. To my surprise, she sang perfect not too loud, not too soft. I couldn't believe it. I was so proud for her. I was crying and laughing at the same time. When her part was done everyone clapped. Afterwards several people came up to her telling her what a wonderful job she did. Later that night I heard her asking Dave if she sounded like Taylor Swift or Hannah Montana! Awww, the dreams of a little girl. Last night she asked me if she could go back on the stage and sing again. Ummm, wonder if she will ever do it again. As you can see I did not have a camera with me. The one time she performed and I did get it. Hopefully Nannie got some good pictures.

We are getting ready for Christmas. Santa comes in 2 days... I can't wait to see Lydia's (and Daddy's) excitement this year. Daddy is getting a big surprise... and Lydia has really be excited about Santa this year. She told us a couple of weeks ago that she needed to sleep on the couch Christmas Eve in case he got stuck in the chimney. I guess it is the time of year but the past week she has been bouncing off the walls every mintue of the day. Miss Darlene mentioned it yesterday! I think we are use to her being calm and slow! I am sure after Christmas things will calm down, well maybe after her birthday!!!

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. I attached one of my favorite pictures of Lydia for a past Christmas!

4 Months Old

Layton turned 4 months old on Sunday. What are you up to these days Layton:
*At your 4 mth checkup you weighted 13 pounds and were 26 inches long.
*You fists are starting to work! You are grabbing hair, earrings, toys... I have to add I have been very impressed with Lydia she has not complained not one time about you grabbing her hair!
*You have found your feet and will help us change your diaper by holding them up.
*You like to sit up and look around.
*You love for us to talk to you. You just stare at us and smile the whole time we are talking.
*You have started giggling when we tickle you.
*You were in your first Christmas program at church Sunday night. You did great!
*You have started eating baby foods, your favorite is squash. When I put you in the high chair you get very excited and start making your funny laugh sound.
*You are still sleeping very well, a short nap in the mornings, longer nap after lunch, cat nap in the afternoons and sleeping all night.
*For the past week when I walk in your room in the mornings to wake you, you are already awake looking over the crib. When you see me you smile. I love that smile starting my day off!
We are enjoying every minute with you. Although it has been tough on momma getting use another child in the house, you have made it very easy by being such a good baby.

Rollin, rollin, rollin...

Layton rolled from her back to her stomach tonight. After several times of trying, she finally did it. Dave caught it on video. Once she was on her stomach, her arm was pinned under her she got very upset. Needless to say once she got upset, that was the end of tummy time!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

We are all ready for Christmas around the Smith household. We put the big tree up last Saturday and Lydia and Layton's trees up on Sunday. Lydia passed her small purple tree on to Layton. Lydia and daddy went and bought her a new tree with multi colored lights on it. She loves it. She said that she wants to take it one day when she has her own kids! (since when did she start talking about leaving our house!) Lydia also shared a nativity scene of hers with Layton. So Layton has her own tree and nativity scene! I am so proud that Lydia is kind to her sister. So with the trees up the inside of the house is all decorated, as much as I am going to decorate. Now tomorrow I will work on the outside. The girls and I went out Meme's today and decorated her door. She does not put a tree up any more so the last several years I have decorated her door.
This year Lydia is asking for Santa to bring her a pink camera. She took the picture above of Layton smiling. I think she does very well. I hope she continues to be interested in photography, that would be an awesome talent.
Last weekend Lydia started getting a runny nose. I thought it was just a cold and that we could handle it at home. So for 4 days I gave her meds that made her climb the walls. On Tuesday morning when she woke up, she was running a high temperature so I decided to take her to the doctor before anyone else got it. When we walked in the drs office, there were 25 sick kids waiting to be seen. And I thought we were going to get in and out! Ha. After 2 1/2 hours waiting Dr. Sepulveda told me that Lydia had 2 VERY infected ears and a red throat. The good thing was that she said she didn't feel bad, so through it all she was in good spirits. So after going through 4 boxes of Kleenex this week I was anxious for the snot to leave our house. This morning when Layton woke up (at 8:30, good girl!) she had a VERY runny nose.:( I have had to wipe her nose all day and she hasn't acted her happy self. She has spit up on me more times than I could count tonight. I am already hating the winter months and we have just begun! Dave went to Hot Springs today with some friends rock climbing. He is staying tonight and will be back tomorrow. Lydia keeps asking me how many hours until he gets home, I think she misses him.
