We had another great “Labor Day” camping trip this year! We
left Friday afternoon, headed to Donaphin, MO. We have always gone to Van Buren
to camp and float on the Current River but this year we wanted somewhere closer to home! Donaphin
is about 3 hrs away compared to Van Buren being 4. This year we had about 25
people with us. We had 3 campers and several tents. The weekend’s forecast was predicted
to be rainy but it ended up being fine. It rained some Friday night and one
time on Saturday.
Saturday morning, Lydia woke up at 6:45! To say she was
eager to start the day is an understatement! She and Dave started their day off
with a little exercise, in which she lost a few pounds!!! When they finished,
she showed me how much smaller her legs were! JOn Saturday we all played volleyball & softball.
Sunday we floated the river. We decided to get a raft. I,
personally, don’t like the cold water, so a raft is perfect for me! We got the
girls tubes, so they went back and forth from our raft to the tubes.
Camping for me is a vacation; no laundry, not much cleaning, no worrying about time, just sitting around talking, playing games, enjoying the little things with the kids. Often life gets in the way of the little things, camping allows me to have those times more easily. My girls just LOVE it. I think they enjoy the independence of doing whatever they want, whenever they want! They may or may not fall asleep with smore all over their face and NO bath! They may or may not have to brush their hair! Layton may or may not eat WAY too many sweets! :) They play outside all day and night, riding bikes, swimming in the river, playing on the playground, playing with sticks, enjoying the fire, playing in the mud, eating, etc... They are never bored! This campground had so many activities for adults and kids. Camping defintiely allows me to make lots of sweet memories with family and friends.

Unfortunatley, when we're camping I don't have my phone a lot (good part), therefore I don't take many pictures (bad part)! I did manage to take a few though!
Smores are heaven for Layton! I would be afraid to guess how many she could eat!
Layton has smore mouth!
Lydia just likes to roast the marshmellow for people. Sometimes she will eat one but not very often!
